BAMMA seemed all set to bring MMA back to Bravo with this its first show.
But as soon as it came it seems to be gone. BAMMA had planned 3 shows for Bravo, but the news on the grapevine is the show is no more already. This would be a great shame if that is to be the case and the event started a nice buzz in the world of British MMA.
Tim Radcliffe had a good night, keeping Abdul Mohamed off his normal game. The fight went the 3 rounds, but it was Radcliffe who had made his mark for a unanimous decision. Mohamed did seem off his game and could not get in gear. Radcliffe had a plan and it worked well for him in this fight.
Edgelson Lua and Che Mills put on a great fight for the fans. This fight was full of trading back and forth. Both warriors putting on a great MMA show! Mills took the unanimous decision in the end.
John Maguire and Tom Watson came to fight in the main event. Maguire controlled the takedowns and ground control, but did not have much in terms of striking. On the other hand Watson was busy on the stand up throwing punches, but did not have much of a takedown defence. So the fight was mostly Watson striking then Maguire taking Watson down and controlled the ground. In the end by the 3rd round Maguire had gassed and was then take apart by Watson for a TKO. Watson was very happy with the win, but it did show a big hole in his game. As Maguire (who should be a fighting at welterweight) was able to score takedowns at will. The fight could have easily turned out different due to that.
A good first event from BAMMA.
