First fight: three minute duration
This first fight went all the way and lasted the whole three minutes. It was Mike’s first ever competition fight and he flew into it with gusto! The three minutes saw him pummelling his opponent on everywhere he could get his fists, elbows and shins to. He constantly drove forward, managing to drop his opponent every time he tried to complete a high kick. The fight ended with Mike the winner and his opponent very much the worse for wear.
Second fight: two minute duration
The player of this fight was wary, and still pained from his previous bout. He backed up and flinched constantly to Mike’s telling blows. This lost him the bout, as such a display is forbidden in Makotokai rules.
Third fight: three minute duration
This encounter lasted the distance and took place immediately after the second, giving Mike just the time to change his colours. This bout was a good display of what Makotokai prides, as heart was displayed throughout, both combatants being relentless in their strikes. This was Mike’s personal highlight of the day, as he personally knew his opponent and loved the opportunity to tread the square with him. The fight, and therefore the gold, was awarded to Mike.
